Bracknell, Martin's Heron) and want to join your local group

All our colonies follow the
same programme: Summer term
note & reply slip
Welcome to the Summer Term
As usual we've issued our programme for the term. Being
the Summer term we are out and about as much as we can.
We've got a lot planned and if you would like to take part
please remember to return the reply slip.
District Beaver Challenge,
19 May
The
District is holding a competition for its eldest Beavers
on 19 May 2012 from 2pm until 5pm. One team of four Beavers
from each colony (i.e. 2nd Bracknell can be represented by
four teams) are being asked to represent their colony in
this annual competition and the winning colony will hold the
prestigious Challenge Shield for the year. We've selected
our teams and wish them good luck on the day.
Design a pizza, by 1 June
Bracknell Regeneration Partnership will be holding a
food and drink festival in the town centre on 30 June. As
part of this they are holding a "design a pizza" competition
for 4-11 year olds (judged in two age groups - years 1 & 2
and years 3 to 6). Winning entries will be judged based on
creative use of ingredients, overall look and originality.
For more details please
see the flyer. If you would like to enter then you'll
need their
special entry form. Entries must be received by 1 June.
You should send them direct to the organiser - not your
leaders.
Colony meeting at Grays Farm
We are pleased to be repeating our visit to
Grays Farm this
term. Full information is
on
the flyer but please remember that the meeting times
will be different as the evening will run from 5.30pm to
7pm. Each colony has a separate visit:
- Mounties : Friday 1st
June 2012
- Pioneers : Monday 11th
June 2012
- Lumberjacks : Wednesday
13th June 2012
Sleepover at Earleywood, 22-23 June
We are planning a sleepover at
Earleywood for late June. The cost is likely to be about
£15 but this will depend on the numbers that take part.
Beavers will be sleeping on the floor in the Scout Centre.
For more information please see the
sleepover note.
We still have a few spaces so
have extended the deadline for booking until 11 May.
Beaver & Cub County Fun Day, 30 September
We'd planned that
Beavers and Cubs from all over Royal Berkshire would
come together for an action packed activity day in
September. Unfortunately the County has now cancelled the
event. We'll refund any deposits that have been paid.
Project Africa
We're really impressed how well the Beavers did
their "jobs at home" to raise money for Project Africa.
End of term totals were as follows:
- Pioneers £27.10
- Lumberjacks £35.80
- Bisons £35.60
- Mounties £17.20
Your Leaders would like to thank
all those Beavers who have
completed "Jobs at Home" and raised an amazing £115.70, thats 15 chickens being sent to Africa.
Leader training
We are very pleased to announce that Condor has received
his Wood Badge for completing all his Scout training
modules. Please join us in congratulating “Condor” on his
achievement.
New to Beavers?
Our "first
steps"
document should help you if you are just joining one
of our colonies.
Fund raising the easy way
We can earn commission on things you buy online if you go
through our online eStore at
spendandraise.com/2ndbracknell. You'll find over 1000
retailers there including M&S, Expedia, play.com, Amazon, Thorntons,
Debenhams and
John Lewis. You
pay the normal online price which is generally less than on
the High Street so you can raise money for us and still save
money. For more information please visit our
fund raising page.
Getting
in touch
We've made
getting in touch by e-mail very easy. There are no complicated
e-mail addresses to remember. All you need to do is type
in the leaders colony name, e.g. condor, and then add
@2ndbracknell.co.uk. Alternatively you can complete our
enquiry
form.
Scout
Shop
If you need uniform then the Scout Shop is the place to
go. The
Scout Shop page has more details and includes
a map showing how to get there.
Moving on
to Cubs?
For more information about Cubs you can see their Welcome Guide.
Badge
Requirements
We don't publish the requirements for badges on our
site. To ensure that you are looking at the latest information
it is better to go to the Beaver Scout section of the
national scout website and look up the badge you
need. There's a link to "Badges & Awards"
on the left of every page. If you want to know where to
sew those precious badges you'll find that information on
Scoutbase too.
