One of the regular events
in our programme are the Church Parades. They are generally
held on the third Sunday of each month at Holy Trinity Church.
We are joined by the Bullbrook Brownies and Guides and the
Sunday School at the
service which is open to all the family.
Why Holy
Trinity?
Holy Trinity is Bracknell's third oldest building having
been built in 1851. It is the "town centre" church and the
people of Bullbrook have always regarded it as their own.
2nd Bracknell has been holding Church Parade at Holy Trinity
for many years - back in the days when North Bracknell was
still brickworks and open fields. Although the balance of
the group may have changed in recent years we have remained
loyal to Holy Trinity and continue to hold our monthly
Church Parades there.
How do I
get there?
Holy Trinity is on The Ring in Bracknell. It
is the old church with a spire that you see if
you drive from the railway station to the Met
Office roundabout. Langley Hall is the more modern building next
to the church. You can park in the small car
park outside the church or hall, in the multi-storey
opposite or in the car park near the Old Manor.
Access to all of these is from The Ring via
the Met Office Roundabout.
What
time is it?
Normally we ask everybody to meet outside the church at
09.50. The
service starts at 10.00 and ends at 10.40.
What
Happens?
In addition to the normal prayers and songs
we start the service by parading the flags. The
children also get involved in the service and there is always a
craft activity half way through so that everybody has something
to take home with them. In addition, the musical instruments are
normally given out so that the singing of the songs can be a
very noisy affair! Our service is shared with the Sunday
School.
Who
is it for?
The service is open to the whole family and
is designed to be appropriate for children - especially Beavers
and younger Cubs.
When is it?
Church Parade normally takes place on the third Sunday
of each month. There is no service in August. We also don't
have a Church Parade in April as we have the St George's Day
Parade and in November we do a Remembrance Sunday parade
instead. Increasingly we are joining with other groups at
Holy Trinity so that we get to take part in services for
Mothering Sunday and Harvest Festival.
I
already go to church on Sunday
We know that many of you already go to church
or Sunday School and therefore find it difficult
to make it to our parades. However, we hope that
you might be able to make it to, say, one a term
even if you can't come every time.
This is a
Group event attended by all sections
