If you are heading to camp you may need our
joining instructions
We have decided that a fitting way to mark
our 50 years
is to have week long camp open to all sections.
When? It will run from
Saturday 24th July to Saturday 31st July. The Cub, Scout &
Explorer sections will be attending for the full week, but the
Leaders realise that this may be too much for some of the
younger Cubs and so, as in previous years, we will also be
offering a mini Cub camp (Saturday 24th July – Wednesday 28th
July). Beavers and their families are invited to join us for
their own mini camp from Sunday 25th July – Wednesday 28th
July although all Beavers must bring at least one
parent/guardian to camp.
Where?
We will be camping at
Phasels Wood Camp
Site near Kings Langley
How do we
get there?
Directions
to the site are available on the Phasels Wood website. You
may decide to car share although the group is not coordinating
that part of camp.
Who is
organising things? It is a big job to organise a group
camp so we're grateful to Raksha (Nicky Morgan) for
volunteering to take on this important task. She is assisted
by Mang (Neil Coles) who is experienced in organising our popular Cub
summer camps. If you need to get in touch, you can e-mail them using
their pack names (Raksha or Mang) @2ndbracknell.co.uk.
Sorting out the activities is one thing but camp won't
function without food. Catering for over 100 people would be
tricky in a well equipped kitchen so doing it in the middle of
a field is no easy task. Regular campers will be pleased to
hear that we've persuaded Marian Carter to once again lead our
kitchen team -
SMICCTSO.
Her team will include
Lesley Ferrington and Allan Coles. We'll be operating two
sittings for most meals to split the numbers. We need to have
your health forms in plenty of time so that the team can make
sure that your dietary needs are catered for in the menu.
Rules for
adults: We will have a number of extra adults who are not
regular helpers or leaders. We're pleased to have you along
but have published some
rules for adults to help you get through the week. All
adults on site need to have completed and returned a
health form before camp.
Jubilee fun
day: We have designated Wednesday 28 July as our Jubilee
Fun Day. Things will start at 2pm with a series of games and
activities run by each section from making twists to circus
skills and mini-Olympics. At 4.30pm there will be a
presentation by the
Group
Executive Committee. The
Fellowship will then be running a barbecue from 5pm and
this will be followed by a camp fire for the whole group. We
anticipate that the evening will finish at 10pm. Everybody is
welcome to come to the fun day but there is a £4 charge to
cover camp fees and the barbecue. To help with catering please
complete and return the
reply
slip.
