New District Commissioner
We have been conducting a search for a new District Commissioner for South East Berkshire. We can now announce that Ann Minchin (currently at 4th Bracknell) has agreed to take on the role, with effect from the District AGM on 23rd June. Also, our very own Steve Prower has agreed to take on the role of Deputy District Commissioner (in addition to being our Group Scout Leader). Together, Ann and Steve will lead the development of the District in the next phase for Scouting in South East Berkshire.
Of course we can't let the moment pass without thanking Carolyne Brambley for all she has done for South East Berks since she became District Commissioner nine years ago. As 2nd Bracknell's former parent and then Beaver leader she has always been a friend to the group and we wish her well for the future.

District parent & child camp: 18-20 September
South and South East Berkshire Districts come together for the annual parent and child camp at Earleywood in September. This year the theme is "enviro camp". The costs will be £9 per head plus food costs which will be known nearer the date. Places are limited to 300 campers across both districts so we need to reserve our places as soon as possible. To reserve your place please e-mail CW with the names of the campers that would like to take part. A £4 deposit will be required when places are confirmed. Should you need to borrow a tent we hope that the group will be able to help you out.

Fund raising the easy way
2nd Bracknell's membership of the "buy.at" network has earned the group over £250 so far. We earn commission on things you buy online if you go through our online shop at http://buy.at/2ndbracknell. For more information please visit our shopping page. It is painless fundraising and if we can raise our funds this way we won't have to keep asking you for money.

Barry's bus
Barry Smith was Akela at 2nd Bracknell for over 30 years. You can see our tribute to him online. When he died in 2005 he left the group some money. We have decided that we would use this money to buy a minibus. Barry's programme was always full of trips out with small groups to the seaside and museums so we think he'd approve.
If our group isn't already using it we are happy to hire our minibus to other local Scout or Guide groups. For more information please complete our
enquiry form.

Thanks to around 75% of the group that have registered their Subs payments for Gift Aid we claimed £1146 in 2007. That's the equivalent of 2 Christmas Fairs, 5 sponsored walks or 10 jumble sales. It's easy money for us so if you haven't registered for Gift Aid - or would like to check whether you have or not, please see the
Gift Aid e-note or contact our Treasurer.

Join Us
We are always pleased to receive offers of adult support - whether on a regular or occasional basis. If you would like to help please contact your leaders or see our "Join Us" page. You can get involved at whatever level you want - from one night a term to becoming a uniformed leader and helping every week. We also have vacancies behind the scenes on our Group Executive Committee.

Group T-Shirts
We have blue 2nd Bracknell t-shirts that you can wear instead of your uniform in the summer term. New stock is now available with children's sizes up to age 12-13 and a range of adult sizes from S to XL. T-shirts are just £6 and are available from your leaders.

Getting in touch
We've made it easier for you to remember the e-mail addresses of the leaders. We hope that the 2ndbracknell.co.uk web address is straightforward and easy to remember. You can e-mail the leaders @ 2ndbracknell.co.uk rather than having to remember their complicated addresses. If you can't remember the correct address you can go to our Contact us page and send us a message via our enquiry form.

Blue 2nd Bracknell Group T-Shirts may be worn as uniform (with your scarf). They cost £6 and are available from your leaders.
