At 2nd Bracknell Scout Group we have been providing quality Scouting to the boys of Bullbrook and North Bracknell for over 30 years. Now we have opened our doors to girls too. We currently have around 100 members aged between 6 and 14 who meet at our purpose-built hall in Bullbrook. All of our leaders are volunteers and give their time freely to make sure that the group delivers the balanced programme. Our enthusiastic leadership team is supported behind the scenes by our Group Executive Committee who look after the hall and raise the money we need to keep the group running. From 6 to 66 years old there is something for you at 2nd Bracknell.

If you'd like to know more or have a question about our group or website please complete our enquiry form. If you are outside our area (mainly Bullbrook, North Bracknell, Martin's Heron) and want to join your local group then you can use the Scoutbase enquiry form to get a local contact in your area.

If you'd like to advertise 2nd Bracknell and help us attract new members you can use one of our "It's what we do" posters - links on the left of the page.

The young people wouldn't be able to enjoy Scouting without some adult help but there is more to Scouting than becoming a uniformed leader. It all depends how much time you can spare.

Here are some opportunities that you may like to consider - listed by the amount of time you can spare:

Please note that all adults that are in contact with the children in our care have to complete a CRB check. The leaders can tell you more about what this involves or you can contact our District Commissioner.

Opportunities for Adults

Scout Shop Assistant: If you can spare the odd Monday evening then Margaret Kemp at the Scout Shop would be delighted to hear from you. The shop is at Cooper's Hill and opens from 7.30 to 9pm. Each group is asked to provide helpers on a rota basis so that most people have to do just one or two weeks per term. Training will be given and you will get a free cup of tea or coffee. For more information please contact Margaret Kemp via our enquiry form.

Beaver Scout Occasional Helper: Our Beaver Scout colonies are always grateful of a bit of extra help. Although parents are always welcome we find that the real benefits occur when we get people who can help regularly - even if this is just a few times each term. They get to know the way we work and what is expected from them. See our Beaver Scouts page for contact information. Remember that you don't have to be a Beaver Scout parent to be a helper.

Cub Scout Occasional Helper: Our Cub Scout packs are always grateful of a bit of extra help. Although parents are always welcome we find that the real benefits occur when we get people who can help regularly - even if this is just a few times each term. They get to know the way we work and what is expected from them. See our Cub Scouts page for contact information. Remember that you don't have to be a Cub Scout parent to be a helper.

Group Exec - team member: We're looking for interested adults to join our Group Executive committee which looks after the hall and the finances of the group. You'd be able to attend the Group Exec meetings that take place on the first Monday of each month at 8pm. You should be interested in the running of the group and willing to assist in the organisation of fund raising events or hall maintenance working parties.
For more information please contact our Group Chairman - Dale Kipp.

Beaver Scout Regular Helper: Our Beaver Scout colonies are looking for keen adults to assist the Beaver Scout leaders. You'd be an enthusiastic, creative person with a "Blue Peter" mind and get on well with 6 to 8 year olds. We're looking for people who could come along most weeks as it is only by coming regularly that they would get to know the way we work and what is expected from them. You don't have to be a Beaver Scout parent to be a helper. See our Beaver Scouts page for contact information.

Cub Scout Regular Helper: Our Cub Scout packs are looking for keen adults to assist the Cub Scout leaders. You'd be an energetic person who gets on well with 8 to 11 year olds (and can cope with the noise that they make). Beaver Scout Leader: Our Beaver Scout colonies are looking for keen adults to become Beaver Scout leaders. You'd be an enthusiastic, creative person with a "Blue Peter" mind and get on well with 6 to 8 year olds. We're looking for people who could come along every week and work as part of the leadership team. Your first uniform would be provided by the group once you have been interviewed by the District Appointments Committee. As a warranted leader you make a commitment to undertake training.
