that you think may be of interest to 2nd Bracknell members
then you can always contact us and get it added to this page.
1st
Billingshurst
So why would a Scout Group in West Sussex be of
interest? Because it is where our pages are hosted and it is
only polite to have a link to their website. Oh, and by the
way, our very own Jacala (Nick Layt) who runs this website is
a Cub Leader with
their Parbrook pack these days.
Scout Association
Scouting in the UK has a corporate web site giving
information about the movement. |
 |
South East
Berks District
Now you can find out more about the rest of the District by
visiting their own website.
Berkshire
Scouts
Scouting in Berkshire has its own web site that gives information
- mainly for leaders - about what is happening at County
level. There is also a round-up of forthcoming events for each of the sections
and the County Diary which includes training course dates.
Scoutbase
If you want to know what is happening in Scouting nationally
then you need Scoutbase. Use it to find the requirements
for badges or where to sew them on your uniform. You can
also contact SID - the Scouting Internet Directory for information
about any other Scout groups online in the UK. |

Earleywood Camp Site
Our local camp site at Ascot has recently come back under
the control of South and South East Berks Districts after
Scout HQ threatened to sell it off. They have recently
launched their new website.
Best of Guiding
Just to prove that we recognise our sister organisation -
lots of resources here from camp fire songs to how to fold a
flag.
64th
Portsmouth
This group have a very busy web site and an excellent links
section with links to every subject you can think of. They've
also kindly listed our site in their directory.
Holly
Spring Junior School
We used to get a lot of Cubs from Holly Spring School but
now we get hardly anybody. They've listed our site in their directory and given us a
mention in their newsletter to see if we can get more to
join.
Gang Show
The South and South East Berkshire Gang Show takes place
every February.
Longridge Scout Boating Centre, Marlow
For nearly fifty years the Longridge Scout Boating
Centre has been a pre-eminent hub of water-related
activities in both Scouting and the UK. Last year, as a
result of the
National Campsites Review, Longridge was
declared 'surplus to requirements'. This fabulous riverbank
campsite 'failed' on two counts: its indoor accommodation is
not up to corporate hospitality standards and, for health
and safety reasons on a crowded waterway, it could not take
a Jamboree-size camp. But Longridge was pre-eminent on all
the factors that matter to Scouts themselves: fun, kayaking,
canoeing, sailing, rowing, and a range of other outdoor
activities in an unparalleled setting. The
Committee of the Council agreed to new arrangements which
will save Longridge but only if the new Trustees can raise
£1.5 million to buy the freehold for an independent
Longridge Scout Trust. See
their
website for more information or to donate.
Walton
Firs Camp Site
Like Longridge, Walton Firs is also on the Scout HQ sell-off
list. There are plans for a new charity to run and develop
the site but they must raise £800,000 by the 30 June 2008.
With about £625,000 raised so far they are well on the way
but need more support. The Cubs regularly camp there and we
had District Camp there in 2006.

Red scarves
At
2nd Bracknell we are proud to wear our red scarf. There are other groups
around the country that have the same scarf. As we find them
they will be listed in this section.
